The mission of Safe and Sound is to provide a safe and healthy learning environment that allows and encourages children to grow and develop as Jesus did, “in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and men” (Luke 2:52). Our ultimate goal is for the children to flourish successfully in their lives, in their families, in their education, and in the marketplace, becoming productive citizens in the community, experiencing and living their lives in the love of God and the word of God.
In 1985, responding to a community need for more quality child care centers, Ms. Carol purchased a lot in Eagle Lake, Florida, and began the process of building what is now known as Safe and Sound Child Care and Early Learning Center.
The doors opened on June 3, 1986, with three children and two teachers. Over the course of 37 years, the center has graduated 36 preschool classes, picked up children at Eagle Lake and Lake Shipp Elementary in a school bus, created 37 summer camps, transitioned from bus to 15-passenger vans, added Pinewood Elementary to the pick-up list and enrolled second-generation Safe and Sound families.
In 1996, Safe and Sound added an additional building to host the school-age program (the Cool Cats). The playgrounds have improved greatly with the installation of updated play equipment, landscaping, and activity areas.
Safe and Sound continues to sponsor a baseball team in Eagle Lake. The mission has not changed; Safe and Sound Child Care and Early Learning Center aims to provide a Christian environment where children learn through play.
